Located in the heart of the South, the Port of New Orleans is a vital gateway for trade. As a CBP Officer on the night shift, you will be the first line of defense, ensuring the integrity of our borders and protecting our nation.
Responsibilities
- Inspect Cargo & Travelers: Conduct thorough inspections of cargo, vessels, and travelers to prevent the illegal entry of people and contraband.
- Enforce Laws: Apply and enforce laws, regulations, and procedures related to immigration, agriculture, and trade.
- Patrol Perimeter: Monitor and patrol the port facilities and surrounding areas to detect suspicious activities.
- Interrogate & Search: Question travelers to determine admissibility and perform searches of persons and property when necessary.
- Document & Report: Complete accurate administrative paperwork and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies and medical situations that may arise during your shift.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or a non-citizen legally authorized for employment.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred but not always required depending on specific hiring path).
- Criminal Record: No felony convictions or pending criminal charges.
- Physical Fitness: Must pass a physical fitness assessment and be able to perform strenuous physical duties.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license is required.
- Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
- Background: Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening.
