We are seeking a detail-oriented and community-focused individual to serve as our next City Clerk. The City Clerk is the chief administrative officer of the City Council and is responsible for maintaining official records, managing public meetings, and ensuring the smooth operation of municipal government functions. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all official city records, including council minutes, ordinances, and resolutions.
- Prepare and distribute agendas, packets, and official correspondence for City Council meetings.
- Coordinate with department heads to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with city policies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for public inquiries and maintain a professional reception area.
- Supervise and train support staff in clerical procedures and customer service standards.
- Oversee the administration of local elections and voter registration processes.
- Ensure all municipal filings are up to date with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a municipal government or clerical setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and record management software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Minnesota state government procedures is preferred.
