Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and organized City Clerk to join the City of Detroit Administration team. This is an immediate opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our municipal records and serving our residents.
In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation of city governance by managing official documents, facilitating public access to information, and supporting critical administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and archiving of official city records, including council minutes, ordinances, and resolutions.
- Process and certify vital records such as birth, death, and marriage certificates.
- Manage voter registration and assist with the coordination of local election procedures.
- Serve as the primary liaison for the public, responding to inquiries regarding city services and procedures.
- Prepare meeting agendas, distribute materials, and support council meetings and public hearings.
- Maintain accurate databases and ensure compliance with state and federal filing requirements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Public Administration or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in administrative support, record-keeping, or government operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and government database software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on accuracy and discretion.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to strict ethical standards and government protocols.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
