Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Verify that construction work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and environmental protection guidelines.
- Review and process permit applications and related documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and issue necessary permits, stop work orders, or violation notices when non-compliance is identified.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, property owners, and City officials to resolve construction issues and clarify requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, violations, and approvals in the department's database.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or a related technical field.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation are required.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry-standard codes (IBC, IRC).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical plans and specifications.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods.
