Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of highway rights-of-way, including sweeping, grading, and litter removal.
- Operate and maintain light and heavy equipment, including dump trucks, graders, and sweepers, following all safety protocols.
- Assist in traffic control operations, including setting up and removing work zones, cones, and barricades.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on state-owned vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and severe weather events to restore roadways promptly.
- Collaborate with other maintenance crews and supervisors to prioritize and execute daily work schedules efficiently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License is required; Class B CDL is preferred but not mandatory for all entry-level positions.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance equipment operations.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check as required by state regulations.
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
