Responsibilities
- Receive, open, and process legal documents, pleadings, and court filings with precision and adherence to deadlines.
- Index, file, and maintain accurate electronic and physical records for civil, criminal, and traffic cases.
- Assist attorneys, litigants, and the general public with inquiries regarding case status, document requests, and court procedures.
- Prepare and issue official court documents, subpoenas, summonses, and judgments.
- Operate case management software and database systems to update case status and input new data.
- Sort, verify, and distribute incoming mail and legal correspondence to appropriate departments.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive legal and personal information.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or paralegal certification is a strong plus.
- Previous experience in a legal, clerical, or administrative environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong typing speed and data entry accuracy (minimum 40 WPM).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with the public.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a busy office setting while maintaining attention to detail.
