Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections and compliance audits of industrial facilities in Wayne County
- Investigate environmental complaints and enforce regulations for air, water, and waste management
- Develop compliance assistance programs for small businesses and underserved communities
- Prepare detailed violation reports and enforcement recommendations
- Coordinate with legal teams on regulatory enforcement actions
- Maintain compliance databases and generate performance metrics
- Represent EGLE in community outreach and stakeholder meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years regulatory compliance or environmental protection experience
- Valid Michigan driver's license and ability to travel to field sites
- Strong knowledge of EPA and MDEQ regulations (RCRA, CAA, CWA)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Certification in Environmental Management Systems (EMS) preferred
- Experience with environmental data analysis software
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
