Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce compliance with state environmental regulations (air, water, waste)
- Conduct field inspections and investigations of industrial/commercial facilities
- Prepare detailed technical reports and enforcement documentation
- Provide regulatory guidance to businesses and local government partners
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams on environmental protection initiatives
- Testify as expert witness in regulatory hearings and legal proceedings
- Develop pollution prevention strategies for regulated facilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of environmental compliance/regulatory experience
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Strong knowledge of federal/state environmental regulations (RCRA, CAA, CWA)
- Excellent written/verbal communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to work independently in field environments and variable weather conditions
- Professional certification (e.g., CHMM, QEP) preferred
- Experience with GIS mapping and environmental data systems
