Responsibilities
- Administer federal pension plans and retirement benefits for veterans and federal employees
- Process complex benefit applications and ensure compliance with federal regulations (5 U.S.C.)
- Provide expert guidance on retirement planning, TSP contributions, and survivor benefits
- Conduct benefits orientations and training sessions for new employees
- Collaborate with HR and finance departments on annual benefits enrollment cycles
- Maintain accurate records in federal systems (e.g., HRIS, BENEFITS)
- Stay current on federal retirement policy changes and communicate updates to stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience with federal benefits or pension administration
- Thorough knowledge of federal retirement systems (FERS, CSRS) and TSP regulations
- Professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or Federal Benefits Specialist) preferred
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for complex benefit calculations
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
- U.S. citizenship required for federal position
