Responsibilities
- Analyze complex federal claim applications to determine eligibility for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
- Conduct thorough interviews with claimants and medical professionals to gather necessary evidence and documentation.
- Review medical records and work histories to make accurate, evidence-based decisions.
- Provide clear, empathetic, and accurate information to the public regarding benefit entitlements and procedures.
- Compose detailed written decisions and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive federal records.
- Collaborate with legal teams and other federal agencies to resolve overlapping or conflicting claims.
- Stay updated on federal regulations and legislation affecting Social Security policies.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or a national of the United States.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required; Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, administrative support, or claims processing is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulations in plain English.
- Technical: Proficiency in using computer systems and federal case management software.
- Integrity: Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion and adhere to strict ethical standards.
