Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce institutional rules to maintain security and order
- Conduct regular patrols, inspections, and headcounts of all facility areas
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with swift action
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Screen visitors, mail, and packages for contraband using established protocols
- Operate security systems including gates, cameras, and communication equipment
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during emergency situations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license
- Minimum age 21 with high school diploma or GED equivalent
- No felony convictions and pass comprehensive background investigation
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance
- Physical fitness to meet correctional officer training standards
- Strong observational skills and decision-making under pressure
- Completion of Federal Law Enforcement Training (FLETC) or equivalent
- Experience in law enforcement, military, or corrections preferred
