Responsibilities
- Enforce institutional rules and maintain secure perimeter controls
- Conduct regular inmate counts and headcounts to ensure accountability
- Monitor inmate activities and respond to emergency situations
- Perform security inspections of facilities, cells, and common areas
- Document incidents and maintain detailed security logs
- Participate in inmate transportation and escort operations
- Support rehabilitation programs as directed by facility leadership
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license
- Minimum of 1 year correctional or law enforcement experience
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and polygraph examination
- Completion of Federal Bureau of Prisons training academy
- Physical fitness to meet correctional officer standards
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation systems
