The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Actuarial Analyst to join our Houston-based team. Responsibilities
- Analyze actuarial assumptions, methods, and trends for federal pension plans to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal regulations.
- Project future pension liabilities and develop funding strategies to maintain the solvency of the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund (CSRDF).
- Collaborate with legislative affairs and other agency stakeholders to interpret and implement changes in federal retirement legislation.
- Review and validate retirement plan designs for various federal agencies, providing technical expertise on pension calculations and benefit projections.
- Prepare complex actuarial reports and presentations for internal leadership and external oversight committees.
- Conduct research on private sector retirement trends to benchmark federal pension practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Must be a member of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and actively pursuing Fellowship (FSA/FCAS) or Associate (ASA/ACAS) status.
- Experience with government pension systems, ERISA regulations, or federal financial management systems is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, SAS, R, or other actuarial modeling software.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
