Responsibilities
- Pension Administration: Calculate and process pension eligibility and monthly annuities for retiring federal employees with precision.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all pension calculations adhere to current federal laws, regulations, and OPM guidelines.
- Employee Consultation: Provide expert advice to federal employees regarding their retirement options, survivor benefits, and lump-sum distributions.
- Data Analysis: Review and audit pension records to identify discrepancies and resolve complex payroll and retirement issues.
- System Management: Utilize federal HRIS systems to input retirement data and generate required reports for internal and external audits.
- Policy Updates: Stay current with changes in federal retirement legislation and update internal procedures accordingly.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in federal benefits administration, payroll processing, or pension management.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of FERS and CSRS plans, including Thrift Savings Plans (TSP) and Social Security integration.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with federal HR software.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Security: Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust security clearance.
