Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate pension and disability compensation applications to determine eligibility in accordance with federal regulations and VA policies.
  • Conduct thorough interviews and gather necessary documentation to support benefit determinations for veterans and their families.
  • Process complex claims and resolve discrepancies efficiently, maintaining high accuracy rates during the Weekend Shift.
  • Communicate complex benefit information clearly to veterans, ensuring they understand their rights and entitlements.
  • Collaborate with the Claims Intake team to prioritize urgent cases and ensure timely service delivery.
  • Comply with all federal security protocols and privacy regulations regarding sensitive veteran data.
  • Maintain accurate records in the VA’s automated case management system (VMRS/VAERS).

Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service, administrative support, or claims processing within a government or financial sector.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new federal software systems quickly.
  • Availability: Must be willing and able to work scheduled Weekend Shifts as required by the department.
