Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze federal/state/local legislation affecting Seattle's infrastructure, climate, and equity initiatives
- Develop advocacy strategies and position papers for city council approval
- Coordinate interdepartmental responses to regulatory changes and funding opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with congressional offices, state agencies, and municipal partners
- Prepare testimony and reports for legislative hearings and public forums
- Track policy trends and provide actionable insights to senior leadership
- Manage special projects during emergency response or crisis situations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years government affairs or legislative experience
- Deep understanding of federal/state/local government structures in WA
- Exceptional written/verbal communication with policy drafting experience
- Proven stakeholder management across public/private sectors
- Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with urgency
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain within 30 days
