Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration, maintenance, and security of the department's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex network issues, and implement proactive solutions to minimize downtime.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control to ensure compliance with state security protocols and privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and integrate new software and hardware solutions.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to protect sensitive government data.
- Provide technical support and training to government staff regarding software applications and IT policies.
- Document technical procedures, network configurations, and incident reports accurately.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related technical role within a government or public sector environment.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), firewall configurations, and VPN technologies.
- Familiarity with government compliance standards, such as FISMA, NIST, or state-specific information security policies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel between state facilities if required.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
