As a key member of our Benefits Administration team, you will play a vital role in managing the retirement plans of thousands of public servants. Responsibilities
- Calculate and process pension benefits, including service credit, retirement eligibility, and monthly payments for eligible retirees.
- Review and interpret complex government retirement policies and state statutes to ensure accurate compliance.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension applications and supporting documentation to mitigate risk and ensure data integrity.
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to retirees, answering inquiries regarding their benefits, contributions, and account status.
- Collaborate with the payroll department to ensure timely and accurate weekly disbursements of pension funds.
- Update and maintain accurate records within the ASRS database and legacy systems.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training materials for new hires and ongoing staff development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in public sector benefits administration, pension management, or government payroll.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA regulations, the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), and state-specific retirement laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
- Must pass a background check and possess the legal right to work in the United States.
