Responsibilities
- Manage and process pension benefit calculations and retirement applications for eligible state employees in North Carolina.
- Conduct thorough reviews of retirement data to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Communicate complex pension information clearly and professionally to retirees, employees, and stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person.
- Collaborate with HR departments across various state agencies to facilitate seamless retirement transitions.
- Investigate and resolve pension discrepancies and inquiries regarding contributions and vested benefits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial data.
- Stay updated on changes in pension laws, tax codes, and retirement system policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits administration, or government finance.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA, state retirement laws, and payroll regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and spreadsheets.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearances.
