Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end processing of pension applications, retirement claims, and benefit distributions.
- Perform complex mathematical calculations to determine accurate monthly pension payouts based on service years and salary history.
- Ensure strict adherence to state pension laws, ERISA regulations, and internal compliance protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service and guidance to retirees and active employees regarding their benefits and account inquiries.
- Conduct regular audits of pension records to identify discrepancies and rectify errors efficiently.
- Collaborate with the finance and legal departments to update pension plan documentation and policy updates.
- Train junior staff on best practices in pension administration and software usage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in pension administration, government benefits, or financial analysis.
- Deep understanding of retirement systems, 401(k) plans, and defined benefit pension structures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and pension management software.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws regarding employee benefits.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive employee data.
