Responsibilities
- Process Pension Applications: Review, verify, and input weekend submissions for government pension and retirement benefit applications with 100% accuracy.
- Customer Service: Provide professional, empathetic, and clear assistance to retirees regarding their pension status and benefit calculations.
- Data Integrity: Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy within the state pension database, ensuring all records are up-to-date.
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot complex inquiries related to social security coordination and state retirement plans.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly reports on weekend caseloads and emerging trends in pension inquiries.
- Compliance: Ensure all processing adheres to New York State government regulations and internal compliance standards.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the weekday administrative team to ensure seamless handover of cases.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in government administration, customer service, or pension/retirement benefits processing.
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and state-specific government software.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a consistent schedule.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-technical audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to review large volumes of data for errors and discrepancies.
