As a key member of the State Government team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and accessibility of our roadways. Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance of state highways, bridges, and roadways to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including asphalt pavers, rollers, and snow removal equipment during weekend shifts.
- Execute traffic control measures, including flagging, signage, and barricade placement, to ensure worker and public safety.
- Respond to emergency road repair requests and weather-related incidents (e.g., snow removal, pothole filling) with urgency and precision.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, material usage, and equipment logs for state reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers and inspectors to implement long-term infrastructure improvements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class C) with a clean driving record required.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or road maintenance is highly preferred.
- Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as required by the operational schedule.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and attention to detail.
