Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA networks
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for threats
- Lead incident response activities during security breaches
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations (FISMA, NIST, HIPAA)
- Train staff on cybersecurity protocols and threat awareness
- Collaborate with IT teams on secure system architecture design
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 3+ years of cybersecurity experience in federal/government sector
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required
- Expertise in risk assessment frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001)
- Strong knowledge of network security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS)
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure) and encryption technologies
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
