Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security incidents and alerts to ensure the integrity and availability of state information systems.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses within network infrastructure.
- Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and compliance standards in accordance with federal and state regulations (e.g., NIST, OMB).
- Provide technical guidance and support to agency personnel regarding security best practices and incident response protocols.
- Manage access control systems, ensuring that user permissions align with the principle of least privilege.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on security posture, incident analysis, and risk assessments to management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with vendors and external auditors to maintain system certifications and accreditation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent military/technical experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in information security, network administration, or systems engineering.
- Active certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or GSEC are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and virtualization technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a background investigation and drug screening.
