Responsibilities
- System Maintenance & Support: Monitor server performance, apply patches, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues for state employees during weekend hours.
- Help Desk Operations: Resolve IT tickets and provide technical support to internal staff, ensuring minimal downtime for critical government operations.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce security protocols, conduct vulnerability scans, and ensure compliance with state and federal data privacy regulations.
- Backup & Recovery: Manage and verify data backup procedures and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Network Administration: Configure routers, switches, and firewalls to maintain secure network infrastructure.
- Incident Management: Lead weekend incident response teams and coordinate with on-call staff during major system outages.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in IT systems administration, help desk support, or network engineering.
- Certifications: CompTIA Network+ or Security+ preferred; ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, TCP/IP networking, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Availability: Must be willing to work a rotating weekend schedule (Friday–Sunday) and be available for on-call emergencies.
