Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy construction and road maintenance equipment, including excavators, rollers, and paving machines.
- Perform essential road maintenance tasks such as pothole repair, crack sealing, pavement marking, and debris removal.
- Execute snow and ice removal operations during severe winter weather events to ensure public safety.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment to verify mechanical condition and safety compliance.
- Adhere strictly to all OSHA safety regulations, traffic control procedures, and municipal work guidelines.
- Collaborate with other municipal workers to complete projects efficiently and safely.
- Assist in general labor tasks as needed, including material handling and site cleanup.
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience operating heavy construction or public works equipment.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screen.
- Current Boston residency is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
