Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on city infrastructure including roads, parks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (snowplows, graders, dump trucks) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls during extreme weather events
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Document work activities and maintain accurate service records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Valid Michigan Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience
- Certification in municipal maintenance or construction safety preferred
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Clean background check and drug-free workplace compliance
