Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) for infrastructure maintenance
- Perform road repairs, sidewalk installations, and storm drain upkeep
- Conduct daily site inspections and safety compliance checks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on public projects
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
- Respond to emergency weather-related public works requests
- Support recycling and waste management initiatives citywide
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years heavy equipment operation experience
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform strenuous physical tasks
- Basic knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
