Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy municipal sanitation vehicles, including packers, loaders, and compactors, to collect residential and commercial waste and recyclables efficiently.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of sanitation equipment to ensure safety compliance and proper mechanical functioning.
  • Execute daily waste collection routes in a timely manner while adhering to city schedules and traffic regulations.
  • Interact professionally with residents, addressing inquiries and resolving collection-related issues on the route.
  • Assist in the cleanup of illegal dumping sites and maintain cleanliness of public rights-of-way and work areas.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid Class C Missouri or Tennessee Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not always required for entry-level; on-the-job training provided.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly and perform physical labor in all weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations is highly desirable.
  • Strong commitment to public service, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
