Responsibilities
- Route Operation: Safely operate heavy-duty sanitation trucks and collection vehicles along assigned routes to collect residential and commercial waste and recyclables.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance of collection vehicles, reporting any mechanical issues immediately to ensure fleet safety.
- Community Interaction: Interact courteously with residents and businesses, answering questions regarding collection schedules and city policies.
- Environmental Stewardship: Ensure proper disposal of waste materials and recycling to comply with environmental regulations and city guidelines.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety protocols, traffic laws, and departmental safety guidelines at all times.
- Seasonal Duties: Assist with snow removal and debris management during inclement weather events as required.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- License: Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License required; Class B CDL is a strong plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly; ability to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
- Experience: Prior experience in sanitation, waste management, or general labor is preferred but not mandatory for immediate consideration.
- Background: Must pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
- Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to operate heavy machinery are highly valued.
