Responsibilities
- Maintain Public Infrastructure: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, alleys, and public parks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all citizens.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment, including street sweepers, trash compactors, and light utility vehicles.
- Snow & Ice Management: Respond to weather-related emergencies by assisting in snowplowing and ice removal operations during severe winter conditions.
- Waste Management Support: Assist in the collection and disposal of municipal waste and recyclables, adhering to strict environmental regulations.
- Customer Interaction: Interact professionally with the public, answer inquiries regarding services, and report infrastructure hazards or code violations.
- Asset Care: Conduct regular inspections of public facilities and report necessary repairs or maintenance needs to supervisors promptly.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Licensure: Valid Washington State Driver's License (Class B or Class C) and a clean driving record.
- Experience: Previous experience in public works, landscaping, custodial services, or construction is highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Technical Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment operations.
