Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on public facilities, parks, and green spaces
- Operate light machinery and equipment for landscaping and construction tasks
- Assist in stormwater management and drainage system inspections
- Support waste collection and recycling initiatives across city districts
- Respond to emergency public works requests during inclement weather
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain compliance with OSHA standards
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on urban development projects
- Document work activities and submit daily progress reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and equipment operation
- Strong attention to detail and safety protocol adherence
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and emergencies
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Preferred: 1+ years in landscaping, construction, or municipal maintenance
