Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, and public parks to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery and light vehicles, including dump trucks, loaders, and mowers, following all safety protocols.
- Sewer & Drainage: Assist in the maintenance of sewer systems and drainage ditches to prevent flooding and blockages.
- Street Sweeping: Operate street sweeping equipment to maintain clean roadways and reduce litter.
- Emergency Response: Respond to and resolve public service requests and emergency maintenance situations during inclement weather or crises.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Experience: Prior experience in public works, landscaping, construction, or general maintenance is highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to read basic maps and schematics.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and team members.
