Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and construction on streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment (e.g., dump trucks, backhoes, rollers) in compliance with all safety protocols.
- Inspect public works sites to identify maintenance needs and ensure quality standards are met.
- Respond promptly to emergency service requests and public complaints regarding city infrastructure.
- Assist in traffic control, flagging, and the installation/removal of traffic signage and barriers.
- Work effectively in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and rain.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.
- Physical ability to perform heavy labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Experience with construction equipment, road maintenance, or landscaping is highly preferred.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by city operations.
