Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of public facilities, parks, and streets including debris removal, repairs, and inspections
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., dump trucks, graders) and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency situations like storm damage, water main breaks, and public hazards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment/service records
- Represent the city professionally in all public interactions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Tennessee driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, maintenance, or public works
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and heavy equipment operation
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Willingness to work irregular hours including weekends and emergencies
