Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional visitor services, including answering inquiries, directing guests, and assisting with special events
- Monitor gallery security and enforce museum policies to ensure visitor safety
- Support exhibit maintenance activities, including cleaning, artifact handling, and environmental monitoring
- Assist in developing and delivering educational programs for school groups and the public
- Collaborate with curatorial staff on exhibit installations and rotations
- Document visitor interactions and provide feedback to improve visitor experience
- Participate in regular training on museum operations, accessibility standards, and emergency procedures
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required (federal position)
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in museum studies, history, or education preferred
- Minimum 6 months customer service or public-facing experience
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
- Basic knowledge of museum operations and artifact handling protocols
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage diverse audiences
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Pass background investigation and security clearance
