Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular security patrols and headcounts to ensure facility integrity
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and behavioral disturbances with professional crisis intervention
- Maintain accurate incident reports and documentation using digital systems
- Operate security equipment including CCTV, access controls, and communication devices
- Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services during critical incidents
- Conduct searches for contraband and maintain perimeter security protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid DC driver's license and clean driving record
- Successful completion of background investigation and polygraph examination
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to work rotating night shifts with minimal supervision
- Strong conflict resolution skills and de-escalation techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and security software systems
- US citizenship and DC residency required at time of application
