Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations during overnight hours
- Conduct regular security patrols and headcounts to maintain order
- Respond to emergencies, conflicts, and medical incidents with swift action
- Document incidents, reports, and security breaches accurately
- Operate surveillance systems and control room equipment
- Screen visitors and packages according to department protocols
- Collaborate with day shift officers for seamless transition of operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and physical fitness assessment
- Basic first aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours
- Strong conflict resolution and communication skills
- Michigan Peace Officer Training Commission (MCOLES) certification preferred
