Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility protocols during overnight hours
- Conduct regular security patrols and headcounts to maintain order
- Respond to emergencies and incidents using de-escalation techniques
- Document all observations and incidents in digital reporting systems
- Operate security equipment including CCTV and access control systems
- Coordinate with law enforcement and medical teams during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate logs and shift handover documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Colorado driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and polygraph examination
- Successful completion of 8-week correctional officer training academy
- Physical fitness to pass annual fitness assessment (push-ups, sit-ups, 1.5-mile run)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
- Basic computer literacy for digital reporting systems
- No felony convictions and clean drug test history
