Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce institutional policies to ensure facility security
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts to maintain safety protocols
- Respond to emergencies and incidents using de-escalation techniques
- Document incidents and maintain accurate security records
- Supplemental meal service and facility sanitation duties
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies during emergency situations
- Maintain communication with day-shift staff during transition periods
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Successful completion of background investigation and polygraph
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour night shifts (6 PM - 6 AM)
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
- Physical fitness to handle emergency response situations
- Florida Basic Recruit Correctional Officer Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- US citizenship and proof of eligibility for state employment
