Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Night Shift IT Support Specialist to join the District of Columbia Government. In this critical role, you will ensure the continuity of essential technology services for city agencies, maintaining 24/7 operational uptime and security. You will provide Tier 2 technical support to government employees, manage server maintenance during off-hours, and respond to after-hours emergency incidents.

Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 Technical Support: Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for government staff during night hours, ensuring minimal disruption to agency operations.
- Monitor Systems: Perform routine health checks and monitoring of servers, firewalls, and network devices to ensure system stability and security.
- Emergency Response: Respond to and resolve critical incidents, outages, and security alerts that occur outside of standard business hours.
- Hardware & Asset Management: Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, and peripherals for night-shift personnel.
- Network Maintenance: Perform network configuration changes, patch management, and troubleshooting of connectivity issues in a government network environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of all incidents, resolutions, and system changes in the service desk ticketing system.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with day-shift teams to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities and handover of ongoing technical issues.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or systems administration within a government or corporate environment.
- Shift Availability: Must be willing and able to work rotating night shifts (e.g., 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM or 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, and remote access tools (VPN, RDP).
- Network Knowledge: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance is required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
