Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Night Shift Technical Support Officer to join our critical operations team within the UK Government. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the stability, security, and continuity of our national digital infrastructure while the wider office is closed. You will be the first point of contact for technical emergencies, resolving complex IT issues and ensuring business continuity for millions of citizens accessing our services.

Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical IT systems, networks, and applications during the night shift to ensure zero downtime.
- Respond to and resolve high-priority service tickets escalated from the day shift and external stakeholders.
- Perform routine security patches, backups, and system maintenance tasks outside of peak hours.
- Document all incidents, resolutions, and system changes in accordance with government compliance standards (GDS/ISO).
- Collaborate with the on-call support team and shift leads to escalate unresolved issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR) and government security policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a technical support or IT operations role, preferably within a large-scale organization.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS).
- Experience working in a night shift environment or rotating shift patterns.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
- Ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance (or willingness to undergo vetting processes).
