Responsibilities
- Analyze pension eligibility for active federal employees and retirees under the FERS and CSRS systems.
- Provide exceptional customer service and guidance on retirement benefit calculations, survivor benefits, and medical insurance options.
- Review and process pension applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Investigate and resolve complex inquiries regarding discrepancies in benefit statements or payment schedules.
- Maintain meticulous records of all interactions and transactions in the department's secure database systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and ensure compliance with the latest federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in pension administration, benefits counseling, or a related financial services role.
- Familiarity with the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to specific cases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and government case management software.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data with discretion.
