Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls using CAD systems with accuracy and efficiency
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS personnel during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities per department protocols
- Provide clear instructions to callers during emergencies until first responders arrive
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line telephone systems simultaneously
- Collaborate with cross-agency personnel during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Basic computer literacy and data entry proficiency (minimum 40 WPM)
- Ability to remain calm and decisive during high-stress emergency situations
- Clear communication skills with exceptional listening abilities
- U.S. citizenship and valid Indiana driver's license
- No felony convictions and clean criminal background check
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and physical fitness assessment
