Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate units
- Operate radio equipment, CAD systems, and multi-line telephone systems
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications and activities
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during emergencies
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (fire, EMS, law enforcement) during incidents
- Remain calm and composed during high-stress, fast-paced situations
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid California Driver's License
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Excellent communication skills with clear diction and active listening
- Strong computer literacy and typing proficiency (minimum 40 WPM)
