Join the City of Chicago Pension Fund as a Pension Plan Administrator and play a pivotal role in managing retirement benefits for thousands of public servants. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the long-term sustainability of one of Illinois' largest pension funds while supporting public employees through their retirement journey.
Responsibilities
- Administer pension plan benefits, including eligibility calculations, distributions, and retirement counseling
- Ensure compliance with federal/state pension regulations and IRS guidelines
- Manage participant records and maintain accurate databases in pension administration systems
- Develop and implement strategic plan funding strategies to ensure long-term solvency
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Conduct audits and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
- Coordinate with legal counsel on legislative changes affecting pension plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension administration experience in government sector
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and Illinois pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Oracle)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and forecasting
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder presentations and participant education
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation highly desirable
