Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit payments, and retirement counseling
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Texas state pension laws
- Manage participant data systems, audits, and reporting requirements
- Develop educational materials and conduct workshops for state employees on retirement planning
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams on policy updates and legislative changes
- Analyze financial data and projections for plan sustainability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, TRS)
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and Texas pension statutes
- Strong analytical skills with attention to financial data accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or CEBS designation preferred
