Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit payments, and participant communications
- Ensure strict compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) regulations
- Manage pension fund investments, actuarial valuations, and financial reporting
- Develop and implement retirement education workshops for employees nearing retirement
- Coordinate with auditors for annual compliance reviews and regulatory filings
- Maintain accurate participant records using municipal HRIS systems
- Collaborate with Finance Department on budget forecasting and funding strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration experience with government or public sector plans
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a)/401(k) regulations, and Oregon PERS statutes
- Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, ASPA) or willingness to obtain within 12 months
- Proficiency in pension administration software and HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle)
- Experience with fiduciary responsibilities and pension fund investment oversight
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to complex financial calculations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for participant education and reporting
