Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit distributions, and compliance with ERISA and CalPERS regulations
- Process retirement applications and provide guidance to employees on retirement planning
- Conduct financial modeling and forecasting for pension fund sustainability
- Prepare quarterly reports for the Pension Board and City Council
- Collaborate with auditors during annual compliance reviews
- Manage participant communications and retirement education workshops
- Maintain accurate pension records using City's HRIS system
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration experience
- CalPERS certification or equivalent retirement administration credentials
- Proficiency with HRIS and financial modeling software (e.g., Workday, Excel)
- Strong understanding of government pension regulations and fiduciary responsibilities
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement
