Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize county pension plans for 5,000+ government employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Analyze actuarial data and financial statements to assess fund health
- Develop investment strategies aligned with risk tolerance and fiduciary responsibilities
- Process retirement applications and provide benefit counseling services
- Prepare comprehensive reports for county commissioners and auditors
- Collaborate with external fund managers and legal counsel on compliance matters
- Lead pension policy improvements and system upgrades
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension administration or retirement fund management experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and California PERS guidelines
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Oracle)
- Series 65 or 63 securities license required
- Experience with public sector pension funds highly desirable
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
